Yet another quasi-celebrity sighting

As promised, this entry is yet another in a series of posts detailing my trevails here in the nation's capital; specifically, this is one of my many "celebrity sightings" posts.

As I walked back into my building after lunch on Friday (or maybe Thursday), I held open the door for someone departing the building (as is my custom). I couldn't help but notice that the man appeared to be somewhat familiar, and the presense of an inordinate amount of makeup on his face led me to realize he must be a television personality. I soon came to the conclusion that the man was noneother than co-host of CNBC's "Capital Report," Alan Murray.

Although I wasn't entirely sure at first, my intuition was essentially proven true by the fact that The Wall Street Journal's Washington Bureau, for which Murray writes, is located in my building.

I wouldn't necessarily label Murray a "celebrity" per se, but I do watch "Capital Report" from time to time as it is one of the few truly balanced political shows on commercial television.

Additionally, Murray is the co-author of one of my favorite political books, Showdown at Gucci Gulch. A thorough examination of entire the process that led to the historic Tax Reform of 1986, Gucci Gulch was just about the first book of its kind that I read, and I'm certainly glad that my Politics professor recommended it to me a couple of years ago. I'd say it's a "must-read."
