A couple of Dem pick-ups in the House?
There are a couple of new polls out from SurveyUSA that show the Democrats have a decent shot at picking up a couple of seats being vacated by Republicans. Here's the info:
Democrats have opty for pick-up in CO CD3: Salazar leads by 12 pts
Open House seat in a District that Bush carried in 2000
Opportunity for Democrat pick-up in battle for Jennifer Dunn's GOP house seat
Democrats have opty for pick-up in CO CD3: Salazar leads by 12 pts
Open House seat in a District that Bush carried in 2000
- In an election for U.S. House today in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, to fill Republican Scott McInnis's seat, Democrat John Salazar defeats Republican Greg Walcher 52% to 40%, according to SurveyUSA poll of 731 likely CD3 voters conducted 9/25-9/27.
- John Salazar (brother of Ken Salazar, who is running for U.S. Senate in Colorado), holds 92% of Democrat base. Just 5% of Democrats cross-over to Walcher. Walcher holds 74% of GOP base. 19% of Republicans cross-over. Independents break 2:1 for Democrat.
- Walcher, just emerging from bitter primary, is tied in suburban parts of district, but trails by 16 in urban areas. Walcher leads by 41 pts among conservatives. Salazar leads by 35 pts among moderates & by 74 pts among liberals.
Opportunity for Democrat pick-up in battle for Jennifer Dunn's GOP house seat
- In an election for U.S. House of Representatives today in Washington's 8th Congressional District, Democrat Dave Ross & Republican Dave Reichert tie, according to SurveyUSA poll of 596 likely WA CD8 voters conducted 9/27 + 9/28.
- It's Ross 45%, Reichert 43% today. 12% are undecided or would vote for someone else.
- Many demographics are fiercely contested. The race is effectively even among young voters, voters age 50+, whites, men, college grads & urban dwellers. Ross with slight edge among women & in suburbs. Reichert holds 83% of GOP base. Ross holds 78% of Democrat base. Ross has 16-pt advantage among independents. Reichert up 56 pts among conservatives. Ross up 26 pts among moderates & up 48 pts among liberals.
