Oregon to regain some political capital
Following up on an article he wrote nearly a month ago, The Oregonian's Jeff Kosseff, joined by fellow reporter Jim Barnett, write about Oregon's new prominence in DC this morning. In "Oregon's lawmakers play bigger role in D.C.", Barnett and Kosseff lead:
After a prolonged drought, Oregon's congressional delegation is accumulating some political capital.Check out this post I wrote about a month ago on the subject for more background information.
When the 109th Congress begins today, the state's five U.S. representatives will have all been in office for at least six years. Both senators will occupy seats on one of the Senate's most powerful committees. And House members will hold leadership posts on committees that determine forest policy and highway funding.
