We're heading into the last week of the special election to fill the seat of former Rep. Rob Portman (R), who resigned to become U.S. Trade Representative a few months ago. The National Republican Congressional Committee has already dumped over $500,000 into the overwhelmingly GOP district on behalf of their nominee, former state Rep. Jean Schmidt. Democratic candidate Paul Hackett, a former marine, has raised more than $350,000 online so far, and finally the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has stepped in to make an ad buy.
